Over the weekend of May 4th-6th the University of Liverpool’s Centre for Lifelong Learning and the Merseyside Maritime Museum are hosting a Moby-Dick marathon, reading the entire novel over three days. The project, known as Moby Dick on the Mersey includes a lecture series about Liverpool’s association with Melville, and with whaling, as well as various other events over the weekend itself.
A special edition of the novel is also being planned, if funding can be raised. If you would like a beautiful readers’ edition of the book, be sure to visit the Kickstarter page before February 1st, when the campaign closes.
The project is run by Dr Chris Routledge, Academic Organiser for English in Continuing Education, and until 2012, tutor in Comparative American Studies.
