Congratulations to Dr Caroline Prud’Homme, Honorary Research Fellow in French, who has recently published a monograph on travel writing in medieval French literature. The book is entitled Le Discours sur le voyage chez les écrivains de la fin du Moyen Âge and is published by Editions Honoré Champion. Caroline tells us more about the book:

During the last two centuries of the Middle Ages, numerous authors put themselves at the centre of their work and reflected on the process of writing. Around the same time, the interest for travel literature grew considerably. This study examines the transformation of the travel experience in written texts in travel poems by Eustache Deschamps and the travel narratives included in Jean Froissart’s Chroniques.
