Professor Charles Forsdick, Head of CLAS, has presented former English Language Assistants with their Personal Development Portfolios which were successfully completed during their Year Abroad in 2010-11. Professor Forsdick was joined by Rachel Salmon from the British Council in London who congratulated the former assistants on their achievements during their assistantships in France and Germany.

The presentations were made at the annual Year Abroad Pre-Departure Day, which prepares second-year students getting ready for their time abroad. Professor Forsdick highlighted the students’ commitment and self-reflexivity during their assistantships, and noted the extent to which this formal recognition by the British Council and the University of Liverpool enhances their employability.

The students, who marked their achievement with a celebratory drink with their Year Abroad supervisors, are in the middle of revision for their final examinations and graduate in July. Lauren Bower received her PDP in absentia.

As the annual cycle starts again, students preparing to leave for assistantships are being invited to participate in this scheme.
