Dr Tom Whittaker, who has recently joined Liverpool, has received a glowing review of his new book, The Films of Elías Querejeta: A Producer of Landscapes in February’s issue of the prestigious film magazine Sight and Sound.
Professor María Delgado describes the monograph as ‘a perceptive and elegantly written study of Querejeta’, which ‘expertly charts a path through the producer’s output’. She further describes the book as follows:
Tom Whittaker’s meticulous study of Querejeta offers both a study of his presence in Spanish filmmaking and an analysis of key films with which he has been associated. The book’s focus on landscape offers a trajectory mapping the country’s evolution from a largely rural nation to a global terrain. Indeed, Whittaker demonstrates how this ‘producer of landscapes’ has offered a film journey through Spain’s cultural geography.
