The Cultures, Languages and Area Studies research seminar on Wed 14 Dec will be given by
Prof. Dr. Alf Luedtke, on ‘Agency or “Eigen-Sinn”? Dimensions of Subjectivity in the Study of Modernity‘
Alf Luedtke is one of the leading theorists and practitioners of the history of everyday life (Alltagsgeschichte) in Germany. He has published seminal works on the experience of the working class in Nazi Germany and the GDR, as well as on violence and the state in the 19th and 20th centuries, and formulated the concept of Eigensinn, now widely used by labour and social historians.
The talk will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday 14 December, in room 401 in the Cypress Building (no. 108 on the campus map).
