Ana AlmeidaAna Simoes de Almeida has recently joined Hispanic Studies within SOCLAS as the new Instituto Camões leitora in Portuguese. Ana graduated in Portuguese studies at the New University of Lisbon (Universidade Nova de Lisboa). Ana has been a lecturer in Portuguese Language and Literature in the University of Vigo and University of Coruña, Galicia, and also in the University of Santa Barbara, USA.

Ana has worked for the Portuguese publishing house Angelus Novus and has collaborated for the blog, on books and literature, Os Livros Ardem Mal.

Ana is currently writing her doctoral thesis on the work of Portuguese poet Adília Lopes, after finishing her Masters in Portuguese Philology at the University of Vigo. Ana’s research interests focus on Portuguese and Brazilian Literature, Film and Visual Arts, with a particular interest in the works of Adília Lopes, Clarice Lispector and Paula Rego.
