SOCLAS student of French and English Terence Conchie is writing a column on his year abroad experiences for the e-zine The Bowler Hat. He is spending a year in Boulogne-Billancourt, teaching English through the British Council assistantship programme. Here is how Terence describes his column:

I’m aiming to make it a weekly thing in which I write about things that may come in useful for future assistants or in fact anyone moving to France for their Year Abroad. If I make a mistake I put it in, if I find something useful, it goes in. I’m aiming to make it a resource really, but also making it as funny as I can so people don’t find it boring.
