The Eyes of the Lighthouse & other shorts

Animation director Pedro Serrazina will visit the University of Liverpool for a talk  on Portuguese Animation and to introduce his new film.

Tuesday, 5 April, 5pm

Rendall Building, Lecture Theatre 3 (building no. 432 on the campus map)

The talk will be in English and the films will be screened with English subtitles. All welcome!

Pedro Serrazina was born in Lisbon, in 1968, studied Architecture, but left his studies incomplete to start a professional training in animation. His first film, Tale of the Cat and the Moon, was premiered in competition at Cannes’96 and received 15 international awards.

In 1996, he moved to the UK and, after doing a Masters degree at the Royal College of Art, he developing a teaching career in Animation degrees both in the UK and in Portugal.

For the past 4 years, Pedro has been course leader of the Animation Arts BA degree at UCA-Maidstone although he has recently moved back to Portugal pursue other personal projects. Pedro is also a visiting lecturer at the Universidade Católica, Porto, and regularly takes part in jury panels at international film festivals.

His most recent film, The Eyes of the Lighthouse or Os Olhos do Farol, co-produced between Portugal and Holland, is a 15 minute animation film that combines live action footage with drawn characters and painterly backgrounds. It has been screened in several international festivals including the London Film Festival, in 2010.
