‘Neger and Zigeuner – Permutations of “Race” in National Socialism’
This talk presents the results of recent research on the policies towards and the experiences of Black people and ‘Gypsies’ in Nazi Germany. It reflects on the relationship between their situation and that of Jews and on what this suggests about the ways in which the notion of ‘race’ has been and might be applied to this and other periods in German history.
